Cup action returns to Hillgrounds for 2023, as our mission to be the 'Best of Beds' continues as we welcome Potton United to Kempston for the THIRD attempt.
Following victory for Rovers over Crawley Green in the last round, this fixture is one of four quarter final ties, with Biggleswade Utd facing Luton Town and Arlesey Town playing Bedford Town, should Rovers progress they will host Biggleswade FC in the semi final on the 28th February.
Potton are in a healthy 9th position in the South Midlands League, 18 points off Stotfold at the top. Six of the top nine sides in this division are Bedfordshire teams, a lot of strength being shown in the county. Rovers last faced Potton in this competition back in 2019, Rovers losing out on penalties following a 0-0 draw. Potton had no game at the weekend however faced Arlesey Town in the Gladwish Challenge Trophy last Wednesday, losing out 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw, ex-Walnut Kye Tearle featured for Potton.
Rovers will be looking to bounce back following the defeat at Walthamstow on Saturday. A strong squad is at Ash Fuller's disposal, with Dahie and Hemlin starting in midfield, but Stratton and Dummett will be looking to push for a starting place. James Hatch was on the scoresheet for successive games on Saturday and will be looking to increase the tally on Tuesday.
Manager Ash Fuller has given his thoughts ahead of the game, "Although coming into this off the back of a defeat there were some really good individual performances so I'm hoping we can add to these positives.
"It was so pleasing to have Israel from the Academy make his debut on Saturday, at only 16 he performed well against a strong Walthamstow group.
"Also making his debut was Ollie Hemlin from Luton Town Academy. It’s important I harness relationships with these pro clubs to bring in talent like Ollie to provide us with depth and quality.
"We have a couple carrying knocks from the weekend, most notably Kyle Lincoln who will be seeing and speaking with our physio Len over the next couple of days to give him the best chance of being ready.
"As we enter mid March it’s the time of two games a week and crunch time. It’s important we chase as many points as possible and stretch our way through cups to help build for next season.
"As the weather becomes more positive I look forward to seeing more support at Hillgrounds Road."
Admission is amended for this fixture, priced at £6 adults, £4 concessions and students, £1 children. Season tickets, season ticket offers and youth team admission will not be valid for this fixture.
