This weekend, Kempston travel to Ashford Town. A ground we have visited as recently as last season in the FA Cup. A match that Rovers lost by a single goal. Earlier this season, the two sides faced each other in league action, Rovers the victors by two goals to nil, with goals from Jake Newman and an Ash Fuller header. Yes, an Ash Fuller header.
Google maps is rather optimistic in saying that the journey to Ashford is just over an hour from Hillgrounds. Given that you will need to use junction 14 of the M25, I would advise you to leave a bit of extra time on the journey. Once off the motorway, take the A3113 toward Heathrow. Cross two roundabouts and follow the Southern Perimeter Road. At the next roundabout, turn right toward Terminal 4 long stay car park, where you will need to again turn right on the roundabout – effectively going back on yourself – onto Bedfont Road. On Bedfont Road, turn left into Long Lane – there is a building with blue lettering “JAS” at this junction. From Long Lane, after the industrial units, turn left into Short Lane. The entrance to the ground is on the left immediately after the houses. There is no mention of car parking on Ashford’s website. For satnav users, its TW19 7BH.
Rovers will head into the game on the back of Tuesday night’s goalless draw with Farnborough, a result that extends Rovers unbeaten league run to eight games and keeps the team in sixth, just a point behind the play off places with a game in hand.
Ashford have two wins and three defeats in their last six games and currently sit in twelfth place in the table.
