Tuesday night sees Kempston clash with Ashford Town for the first time this season, the two clubs were initially scheduled to meet before Christmas, however the sudden cold snap put the game back in the calendar.
Ashford will arrive at Hillgrounds on the back of a three nil loss at home to Potters Bar Town, only their second defeat in their last six games.
The ‘Ash Trees’ are playing back in this division after two seasons away, playing in the Combined Counties League following a relegation in 2014, they finished in third and second during this time. Their second place was enough to see them promoted after champions Hartley Wintney’s ground failed the grading in the March. Ashford finished ten points behind in the title race.
Ashford have, as recently as 2010, played in the Premier Division of the Isthmian League, sixth place in 2008 being their highest league finish.
There is no previous encounter this season to reflect upon, as the reverse fixture with Ashford takes place at their Robert Parker Stadium on the 8th of April. Although, we did play Ashford last season in the FA Cup, with Town winning one nil on that occasion.
