On this day in Rovers history… There was an away game on this date in 1900 at Bedford Queens Works, however there is no record of the result. The last league game Rovers have played on this date was in 2001 away at Long Buckby in the UCL Premier, when Kempston won 2-1
Entry to this fixture is on a ‘pay what you want’ basis. With a minimum suggested contribution of £1
Beaconsfield arrive at this fixture on a terrific run of form that sees them second in the table behind leaders Rushden, having won five of their last six. The Rams have improved significantly on their showing last season, where they finished sixteenth. This has largely been down to investment in the first team squad, with several of their current side being ex-football league players. Forward Daniel Brown has been among the goals this season, he has played in the Conference South for Staines following successful spells with Ashford Town and Wingate & Finchley. In the summer, the club underwent a re-branding excercise that saw them introduce a new badge as well as a name change from SYCOB to Town. In spite of their relative success this season, The Rams currently have the second lowest average crowd in the division at 89, only our good friends at Chalfont St. Peter have a lower average.
Earlier in the season, Rovers won 4-2 at Beaconsfield in the reverse fixture after coming from behind, goals from Newman, Heneghan and a brace from man of the match Tshikuna sealed the points.
Tuesday night saw Rovers frustrated as the second attempt at the away fixture with Egham Town fell foul of the weather a new date will be announced in due course.
Ben Shepherd is in line to make his 99th appearance for the Rovers in this fixture.
