In the bar afterwards Newcastle take on Manchester City on the big screens
On this day in Rovers history… Rovers’ first recorded game on this date was back in 1928, when we faced RAF Henlow in a 3-3 draw.
Most recently on this date, we faced Stotfold in 2012 in the FA Vase. Rovers won 3-2 on the day, two goals coming from Danny Watson.
This is the tenth season that this incarnation of Berkhamsted have been playing for. The current team took over from the disbanded Berkhamsted Town in 2009. They finished twelve points behind Welwyn Garden City in the Spartan League last season, but crucially two points clear of in second place.
A cursory glance at their statistics from last season shows former Kempston forward Stacey Field as the club’s third top scorer, with seventeen goals in twenty three appearances. In the current squad, Will Summerfield is the only name that should be familiar to Rovers’ fans, Will made two appearances at the end of the 2016-17 season.
