In the last six games before their midweek clash with Berkhamstead, Bedford have suffered two single goal defeats, both away from home. Firstly against Bromsgrove and then, surprisingly at Aylesbury with a late own goal after having a penalty saved. Those games aside, Town have started grinding out wins, seeing off Yaxley, Berkhamstead, North Leigh and Barton all by single goal margins. Town had a great run in this season’s FA Trophy, knocking out former Conference champions Aldershot Town before bowing out to a late goal at ex-Football League side Chesterfield. Those cup heroics had caused a backlog of fixtures for Town to contend with, but after the game with Berko this week, they are all caught up and looking good for a play off spot. The pitch at the Eyrie is looking great for the time of year and has recently played host to the Beds. Senior Trophy final, which saw Stevington triumph over Wilstead by four goals to nil.
Kempston arrive at this fixture at the bottom of the form table over the last six games. However, despite having no win in seven, Rovers can also point to just four defeats in fourteen games since before Christmas. Tony Joyce has made Kempston harder to beat since stabilising the ship when he took over and will be looking to next season to make an progress in his first full season in sole charge of the club.
